A Letter To Our Viewers

                                                    A Place For Conversation

 

 

 

Dear MJJTalk Viewer,

 

            JM and Javanko called me up, told me about their show, and asked me to be their “manager” (I see myself as more of an advisor) last November I was more than delighted.  Together the three of us set to work enhancing the show so as to better define and achieve our goals.  I asked myself what I would do with 30 minutes of radio airtime if I ever got the chance.  When I discovered JM and Javanko’s goals to be virtually identical to mine I knew we’d make a great team.

            First and foremost, we do what we do on this show because we care a great deal about this country.  We care a great deal about the political scene and culture here in the United States.  We also care a great deal about the issues at stake.  Most importantly we all want to use our own observations about the world we live in to make political discourse here in this country smoother and more productive.  We see how far-reaching the damage done by the gridlock we see in Washington D.C. today is, and are thus about promoting open-mindedness and critical, independent thinking in the name of fighting partisan animosity in this country.  We notice the prominent, but often overlooked presence of emotion within our political world as political debates often lead to anger and frustration, which only closes ears further, inhibiting the formulation of agreements and solutions. We are all about solutions being reached and do not see healthy political debates as simply being opportunities for disagreement.  

            But while we overall consider this to be a non-partisan show, it does not exclude partisanship.  In fact, a large amount of the content in the show is in fact partisan.  What makes the show non-partisan is how the information is presented—that is, with full acknowledgement of any underlying partisanship whether it’s about a viewpoint or a source of facts.  One cannot promote critical thinking without presenting all sides and angles.

            We must make clear, however: under no circumstances are we here to tell you or anyone what to think.  We will absolutely speak our minds, as we encourage everyone to do; we ourselves have our own staunch stances on issues about which we will always be completely open before adding our personal input on an issue.  We want you to know and see that our individual (and different) stances are just a few of many possible stances on each issue for you to choose from.  All that said… in the spirit of transparency, we each must admit that we do hope you eventually come to agree with us!  But please know that that is but an afterthought to our main goal of opening minds.

            I want to thank you here on behalf of JM, Javanko, and myself for visiting our site, listening to our show and giving us your time.  One thing we love getting here are suggestions, and there are opportunities all over the site to give us feedback—any feedback or questions you have.  In addition to explaining our own partisan inclinations, we will also suggest sources of information where you can read up on the issues if you’re interested.  Naturally, while we aim to recommend non-partisan sources of information, we will also do our best to mention any partisan leanings or sense in the article or book etc. that we may get, always distinguishing between our speculation and that of others.  Going in to season 2 we’re looking at a bright future ahead for our show.  But for now… we hope you’ll have fun here!  All the best,    JM, Javanko, and Danielle
